Northside organizes a male initiative

Male teachers at Northside High School organized a school based initiative to engage male students grades 7-12. The name of the initiative is "Men in Training (MIT)". The purpose of the organization is to introduce the young men to character based education, expose them to culturally enlightening activities, and to offer them opportunities to serve in community and school service projects.

Mr. Eric Bridgett, Mr. Marcellus Chatman, and Mr. Ken Howard have been very instrumental in the installment of the program.  Currently, 22 students have been selected by mentors/facilitators or referred by an admin or the counselor.

Mr. Bridgett, along with his former co-worker Mr. Randall Kelly, started the program years ago at the former John F. Kennedy High School. The sponsors are hopeful that the participants will have lower incidences of referrals and decreased absentees.  They are looking to grow the program.  A huge thank you to Mr. Smith and Mrs. Keys for their support in the initiative.
